DULUTH, Minn. — Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Duluth initiated an enforcement action Wednesday for two men who jumped from the transiting Madeline Island Ferry in July.

HONOLULU — The search for Guo Chuan, 50, reported overdue while sailing his 97-foot super trimaran across the Pacific continues, Wednesday.
An HC-130 Hercules airplane crew from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point is searching and the crew of the USS Makin Island is attempting to rendezvous with the vessel to confirm Chuan is aboard.
A Navy MH-60 helicopter overflew the vessel Wednesday morning and was unable to hail Chuan. The Coast Guard Hercules crew overflew the vessel Tuesday afternoon with the same result. ... [Read More]

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard medevaced a 63-year-old woman Wednesday from a cruise ship about 60 miles east of Virginia Beach.Watchstanders in the Coast Guard 5th District Command Center in Portsmouth received a call from the 778-foot, Holland America Line MS Rotterdam at about 7:23 a.m., stating a woman was reportedly suffering stroke-like symptoms.

BOSTON – The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Campbell returned Friday to its homeport of Kittery, Maine, following a 45-day patrol in the North Atlantic.

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a 40-year-old man from a boat 20 miles south of South Lafourche Airport in Galliano, Louisiana, Monday.
Watchstanders from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans received a call at 12:22 p.m. about and injured boater and proceeded to launch an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew.
The aircrew located the boat at 1:42 p.m. and deployed a rescue swimmer who assisted the injured boater, Scott Russ, into being hoisted into the helicopter.

The crew of the cruise ship Carnival Imagination contacted Coast Guard Sector San Diego watchstanders at approximately 12:45 a.m., Monday reporting that a female passenger had sustained a head injury after a fall and was experiencing seizures.... [Read More]

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard is responding to a reported caustic soda spill in the Mississippi River near Muscatine, Iowa, Monday.
Coast Guard Sector Upper Mississippi River received a report at 2:45 p.m. that approximately 200 gallons of caustic soda was released during a barge-to-facility transfer. The source of the spill has been secured and no injuries have been reported.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
