Coast Guard air crews and maintenance personnel from Air Station Clearwater, Florida, deployed to Great Inagua in September to support Operation Bahamas Turks and Caicos (OPBAT).  OPBAT was established in 1982 to counter cocaine smuggling from Columbia, but has developed into a combined U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Customs and Boarder Protection operation in partnership with the governments of the Bahamas and the United Kingdom to combat drug smuggling to and from the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands.  ... HOUSTON — A Coast Guard aircrew medevaced a 66-year-old woman after she fell down the stairs on a cruise ship at about 8 p.m. Monday, 50 miles east of Galveston. The master of the cruise ship, Disney Wonder, contacted Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders to report the injury. PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard had a lunar visit Sunday during a supermoon in Portsmouth. A supermoon is when a full moon's ellipse makes its closest rotation, causing the moon to appear much larger than normal. For U.S. Coast Guard Base Portsmouth, Sunday's supermoon meant a full moon shined brighter than normal on Coast Guard Cutters Sea Horse, Legare, Forward and Harriet Lane. MIAMI — The Coast Guard repatriated 62 Cuban migrants to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba, since Nov. 4. The Coast Guard Cutter William Flores repatriated 62 Cuban migrants Sunday. These repatriations are a result of five separate at-sea migrant interdictions in the South Florida Straits.
