Coast Guard air crews and maintenance personnel from Air Station Clearwater, Florida, deployed to Great Inagua in September to support Operation Bahamas Turks and Caicos (OPBAT).
OPBAT was established in 1982 to counter cocaine smuggling from Columbia, but has developed into a combined U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Customs and Boarder Protection operation in partnership with the governments of the Bahamas and the United Kingdom to combat drug smuggling to and from the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands.

HOUSTON — A Coast Guard aircrew medevaced a 66-year-old woman after she fell down the stairs on a cruise ship at about 8 p.m. Monday, 50 miles east of Galveston.
The master of the cruise ship, Disney Wonder, contacted Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders to report the injury. The ship’s medical staff coordinated with a Coast Guard flight surgeon to determine the best course of action.... [Read More]

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard had a lunar visit Sunday during a supermoon in Portsmouth.
A supermoon is when a full moon's ellipse makes its closest rotation, causing the moon to appear much larger than normal. For U.S. Coast Guard Base Portsmouth, Sunday's supermoon meant a full moon shined brighter than normal on Coast Guard Cutters Sea Horse, Legare, Forward and Harriet Lane. LOS ANGELES — The Coast Guard ended their search for a 45-year-old male diver near Manhattan Beach Pier Monday, after he was located deceased by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department dive team at 10:55 a.m.

HONOLULU — The Makapu’u Lighthouse is scheduled to undergo maintenance starting Tuesday.

MIAMI — The Coast Guard repatriated 62 Cuban migrants to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba, since Nov. 4.
The Coast Guard Cutter William Flores repatriated 62 Cuban migrants Sunday.
These repatriations are a result of five separate at-sea migrant interdictions in the South Florida Straits. In each instance, the Coast Guard helped secure the U.S. border and prevented these sea voyages from ending in tragedy.... [Read More]

SEATTLE — The Coast Guard assisted two kayakers to safety after they became stranded near Sucia Island due to high winds, Saturday afternoon.
The kayakers were picked up by the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Swordfish and safely transported to Orcas Island.

BOSTON — The Coast Guard evacuated two men off their sailboat Friday after it ran hard aground near Lovells Island in Boston Harbor.

NEW YORK — A Coast Guard crew from Station New Haven, Connecticut, rescued two people after their boat had become disabled near the West Breakwall at the entrance to New Haven Harbor on Friday morning.
At approximately 10:00 a.m., watchstanders at Sector Long Island Sound Command Center received a distress call on VHF-channel 16 from an individual aboard a 31-foot vessel.
