The Coast Guard established a temporary regulated navigation area Thursday for the navigable waters surrounding the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge in North Carolina.
The RNA allows the Coast Guard to impose vessel traffic restrictions within Oregon Inlet to safeguard vessels from shoaling and to reduce the risk of a bridge strike. Coast Guard aviators have patrolled the nation’s skies for nearly 100 years, but it wasn’t the pilots who first helped get the airplane off the ground.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Decisive offloaded approximately 1,328 kilograms of cocaine worth an estimated wholesale value of nearly $44 million at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg, Tuesday.

ALAMEDA, Calif. – A Coast Guardsman was sentenced to six months confinement for Sexual Assault and other violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice during a general court-martial aboard Coast Guard Base Alameda Friday.
Petty Officer 2nd Class Harold C. Sanchez was also sentenced to a reduction in pay grade to E-1, the military’s lowest pay grade, for Sexual Assault, Failure to Obey an Order and Making False Official Statements. Sanchez was stationed aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Mellon in Seattle when he committed the violations.

HONOLULU — The Coast Guard continues to provide interagency support to the Hawaii Fire Department but has suspended its active search for a missing 13-year-old boy in the vicinity of Hapuna Beach Park, Big Island, Monday.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.— Coast Guard and partnering agencies are searching for a possible missing 19-year-old male paddleboarder on the southeast side of Sanibel Island, Florida, Monday.
At approximately 3:30 p.m. watchstanders from Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg received a report that a 6-foot white male had fallen off his paddleboard. Moments later, watchstanders recieved a report from Lee County Sherrif's Office that the paddleboard was found ashore.... [Read More]

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico − A Coast Guard helicopter crew from Air Station Borinquen hoisted two fishermen to safety Monday morning from their distressed fishing vessel just off the coast of Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
Rescued are 25-year-old Luis Efraín Negrón and 75-year-old Victor Rodríguez Rosado.

The Coast Guard and a good Samaritan rescued four people whose boat caught fire off the coast of Murrells Inlet, south of Myrtle Beach, Dec. 14, 2014. One of the four was medevaced after displaying symptoms of hypothermia.
