CHARLES (CHUCK) BAKER, CAPT, USN (ret)*

Chuck Baker retired from the Navy in 2013 after a 27 year career and currently works for the Northrop Grumman Corporation. After designation as a Naval Aviator in 1988, he spent the majority of his career flying the E-6B Mercury aircraft conducting the nuclear command and control mission. Chuck also served in numerous positions as Budgeting/Resource Officer assigned to the Staff of the Chief of Naval Operations, Executive Assistant to the Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command in Manama, Bahrain and as an Manpower Assignments Manager assigned to the Naval Personnel Command. Chuck held command at the Squadron and the Wing level. 

Chuck’s education includes a Masters in National Security and Decision making from the Naval War College and a B.S. in Computer Science from Davis & Elkins College, Elkins, WV. Chuck is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School. He is married with four children in Norman, OK. 

DONALD J. FORAKER

APMA Financial Officer

Don is a 1987 graduate of Old Dominion University, B.S. in Accounting, and 1994 graduate of the University of Delaware, M.S. in Accounting. He is a practicing Certified Public Accountant with 25 years of experience in accounting, auditing, and taxation. He has served leadership roles in numerous professional and civic organizations. Don resides in Maryland with his wife and their two children.

ED CONNORS

Ed has enjoyed a multi-faceted career with experience in sailing, journalism and business. Ed parlayed an interest in sailing and several years of boat deliveries into a USCG Masters License with an offshore sailing endorsement. Ed’s sail and power boat delivery work has taken him to dozens of ports along East Coast of the U.S. from Maine to the Florida Keys as well as through Caribbean Sea, the Panama Canal Zone and the Western Mediterranean Sea. Ed spent 10 years working as a radio reporter on Capitol Hill covering both Houses of Congress. He is currently working in the news media industry as the Director of Business Operations for The American Prospect in Washington, DC. Ed maintains his great love of sailing by keeping a boat in Galesville, Maryland which is just south of Annapolis where Ed resides with his wife and two children.

FRANK DEGUILIO

Frank is a 1979 USMMA summa cum laude graduate. He has an MBA and a JD from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a partner in the Philadelphia maritime law firm, Palmer, Biezup, and Henderson, LLP, is a published legal author, and has served on numerous boards including the Maritime Law Association of the United States. He is a USCG licensed officer and First Class Pilot. He served in the USNR for 17 years, leaving as LCDR. Frank is a widower and has two children. 

IVY SUTER

Ivy earned an MBA from Harvard, as well as a B.S. in Engineering from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Delaware. Ivy was the first woman to graduate from a federal academy. She is a senior executive with more than 20 years of experience across diverse industries, including aerospace/defense and transportation. She has held executive positions with General Electric, United Technologies, Navistar International, and SPX. Her operational experience encompasses global, multi-site organizations. She is also a retired Naval Reserve officer.

In addition to her management roles, Ivy is a member of the Women Corporate Directors headquartered in New York, and was selected by the Financial Times’ Agenda International 100 as a Top Board Candidate with Global Skills. She is a former Director of Saltchuk Resources and the former Chairwoman of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Alumni Foundation. Ivy is married to Tom Suter, a retired Colonel, USAF, and they have two sons.

JERRY MAGLIO

Jerry Maglio is a US Navy veteran. He has a BA in Economics from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from Columbia University. Jerry has over 35 years of business experience as a marketing professional, serving four major national organizations as Chief Marketing Officer, and has served as President of several programming organizations. He currently serves on several boards, both for profit and non-profit. Jerry resides in Denver, Colorado.

JOSEPH P. CONNORS, Sr.

Joe spent a long and distinguished career as one of the most preeminent pension and trust fund experts in the labor field. A decorated WWII combat veteran and a graduate of Georgetown Law School, Joe joined the United Mine Workers of America under the tutelage of legendary union chief John L. Lewis. Joe is a recognized expert in intricacies of the Taft-Hartley Act and in group pension fund management.  He worked for over 60 years as counsel, administrator, and trustee for jointly administered trust funds for several unions including the UMWA, International Laborers Union and the Teamsters.  The capstone of his career was his service for 8 years as Chairman of the UMWA Board of Trustees where he guided the rebuilding of the union’s pension fund to multi-billion dollar strength.  Joe is a widower and father of five who is retired but continues to serve as a personal management coach and consultant.

KURT LANDGRAF

Kurt retired as president and chief executive officer of Educational Testing Service (ETS), a private non-profit educational testing and measurement organization. Prior to that, he was executive vice president and chief operating officer of E.I. Du Pont de Nemours and Company (DuPont), where he previously held a number of senior leadership positions, including chief financial officer. Kurt earned his bachelor’s degree in economics and business administration from Wagner College. He also holds three master’s degrees: an M.Ed. from Rutgers University, an M.A. in economics from Pennsylvania State University, and an M.S. in sociology from Western Michigan University. He is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program, has received four honorary doctorates, and has taught college-level economics, sociology and labor relations at institutions throughout the United States. He is a Vietnam era Navy veteran and pilot. 

PAUL H. TRUEAX*

Paul is a 1979 graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and a Master Mariner who left the sea for Harvard, gaining his MBA, and business ashore. Paul is a senior executive with over 20 years of experience in business planning, customer service and logistics for global corporations such as Sara Lee, Pepperidge Farm, and Colgate-Palmolive.  He served (USNR) and is a member of other advisory boards, notably the Global Supply Chain Institute. He is married with two children, works in NYC and resides in Connecticut.

ROGER J. YOUNGREN

Roger is a 1979 U.S. Merchant Marine Academy graduate and continued graduate studies on organization and personnel. He is a senior executive with 35 years of experience in marine operations, logistics, labor relations, and personnel management overseas and in numerous U.S. ports. Roger currently leads the safety effort across the country for 42 port locations for Ports America Stevedoring. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He is married with one child.
