PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Legare returned to homeport in Portsmouth, Virginia Tuesday, just in time for Christmas, following a 52-day patrol through the Caribbean and into the eastern Pacific Ocean.
During their patrol, Legare's crew transited through the Panama Canal and coordinated with multiple countries in Central and South America, along with partner agencies to stem the flow of illegal drugs into the United States.... [Read More]

LOS ANGELES – The Coast Guard medevaced a 67-year-old male experiencing chest pains from a fishing vessel off San Nicholas Island, Calif., around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
A Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Los Angeles was launched to medevac the man.
The man was taken to Los Angeles International Airport, where he was transferred to emergency medical services.... [Read More]

PASCAGOULA, Miss. -- The crew of Coast Guard Cutter Decisive returned to their homeport in Pascagoula, Mississippi on Friday, following a six-week patrol in the Caribbean Sea supporting the Joint Interagency Task Force-South. During the deployment, the 70-member crew of the Decisive was primarily responsible for conducting counter drug operations in support of U.S. and international laws. The Decisive worked directly with federal and international partners at JIATF-S and the 7th Coast Guard District to combat transnational organized crime networks operating in the Caribbean Basin.... KODIAK, Alaska — The Coast Guard rescued a stranded hunter from Chicagof Island near Juneau, Alaska, Friday evening.
An Air Station Sitka MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew hoisted the hunter and transferred him to Hoonah, Alaska.
Sector Juneau command center watchstanders received a report of a hunter in distress after he became separated from his hunting party on Chicagof Island. Sector Juneau watchstanders launched the helicopter crew to rescue the hunter.... [Read More]

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — The Coast Guard advises to exercise caution during the holidays at beaches in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands due to dangerous riptides in the region.

The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Dependable, Over the Horizon small boat, interdicts a 20-foot drug smuggling vessel in the Caribbean Sea Dec. 10, 2014. The interdiction resulted in the seizure of 71 pounds of cocaine and the apprehension of two smugglers. NEW YORK – Coast Guard crews rescued a boater in distress near Bellport, N.Y., who was reported missing for nearly 12 hours.
Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound Command Center received a call from a 911 dispatcher, stating that the boater’s wife was concerned when her husband departed at approximately 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday and intended to be back at dusk but hadn’t returned.

NEW YORK – The Coast Guard ended their search for a boater who was reported overdue after he was located at approximately 2 P.M. today and confirmed safely ashore.
Coast Guard Cutter (CGC) Sturgeon Bay and CGC Wire, Coast Guard Sector New York, Sector Northern New England, and Sector Buffalo searched for Ken Allen, 41, for approximately nine hours today after a friend notified Sector New York that his friend was supposed to arrive in Staten Island, N.Y., yesterday.

NEW YORK – Coast Guard Cutter Sturgeon Bay and Coast Guard Cutter Wire are searching to locate an overdue boater in the vicinity of Staten Island, N.Y.
At approximately 8 A.M. this morning, the Coast Guard Sector New York Command Center was notified that the boater was transiting from the Erie Canal and was supposed to arrive in Staten Island yesterday.
The boater, Ken Allen, 41, set out on his 42-foot, white sailing vessel and was in constant contact with a friend throughout his journey.

SEATTLE — A Coast Guard marine inspection team from Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound in Seattle completed the annual certificate of inspection for Washington State Ferry Puyallup at the Eagle Harbor Maintenance Facility on Bainbridge Island, Tuesday.
