HONOLULU — The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 29-year-old man suffering chest pains approximately 92 miles southwest of Oahu, Sunday.
An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point safely hoisted the man from the fishing vessel, Lady Karen at 7:21 a.m., and transferred him to Queens Medical Center in Honolulu at 8:03 a.m.... [Read More]

CHICAGO — The Coast Guard suspended search efforts Saturday night after locating an unmanned canoe adrift near South Pier off South Haven, Michigan and determining there were no signs of distress.

The crew of the fishing vessel requested assistance from Coast Guard Sector Anchorage when the on board pumps could not keep up with flooding.

CHICAGO – The Coast Guard and local police are asking for the public's help following a report of a possible unmanned canoe adrift near the South Pier off South Haven, Michigan Saturday afternoon.
A Watchstander at Coast Guard Sector Lake Michigan, located in Milwaukee, received a report from a concerned citizen at approximately 4:30 p.m. local time of what appeared to be an unmanned canoe adrift about 300 yards off the South Pier.... [Read More]

MIAMI — Coast Guard search-and-rescue crews are searching for a missing diver five nautical miles south of Key West, Florida, Saturday afternoon.
Missing is Jim Bakazan, 50, wearing a black wet suit.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Key West received the report from the motor vessel Dream after Bakazan went missing while diving on the wreck of the USS Vandenburg. Sector Key West issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast and launched a Coast Guard Station Key West response boatcrew and an Air Station Miami HC-144 aircraft to search.... [Read More]

HONOLULU — The Coast Guard suspended the search Thursday for the master of the 622-foot freight ship Toscana reported overboard approximately 60 miles east of Wake Island.
"We have exhausted all available resources in our efforts, but pending further developments, we have decided to suspend the active search," said Michael Cobb, command duty officer at the Joint Rescue Coordination Center Honolulu.
The Coast Guard conducted an extensive search of the area, flying three sorties and covering approximately 2,000 square miles since Sunday.... [Read More]

CLEVELAND — The Coast Guard 9th District is scheduled to convene a special court-martial in Cleveland, Monday, for a Coast Guardsman accused of attempted sexual assault.
Petty Officer 3rd Class Joshua M. Raymond is accused of violating Articles 80 (attempted sexual assault), 120 (abusive sexual contact), and 128 (assault consummated by battery) of the Uniform Code of Military Justice for his actions toward a fellow service member during a party at or near Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, on Nov. 27, 2013.... JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Three men, a woman, and a dog were rescued after their boat broke in half and sank Tuesday night approximately two miles east of Talbot Island, Jacksonville, Fla.
None of the mariners reported any injuries. The dog was also in good condition.
Watchstanders in the Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville command center were notified of the situation via VHF channel 16 at 7:43 p.m. The report stated that four mariners were aboard the Nookta Dancer, a 53-foot catamaran, when it broke in half.... [Read More]

BOSTON — Coast Guard crews assisted a disabled fishing vessel 35 miles east of Gloucester, Massachusetts, on Thursday.
At about 4 p.m., Wednesday, the three person crew of the fishing vessel Kristin and Michael notified watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Boston that their vessel was experiencing engine problems and they had become disabled. Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Honolulu Command Center received notification from a good Samaritan at 8:19 a.m. of an overturned adrift kayak. The kayak is green with the words 'Ocean Kayak' in yellow and 'Scrambler XT' in white on the sides.... [Read More]

HONOLULU — Fifty-five people are safe after the Coast Guard dewatered a tour boat in danger of sinking near Kihei, Maui, Wednesday.
Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Honolulu command center received notification at 11:08 a.m., that the tour boat, Mahana Nai’a with 55 people on board was taking on water in the engine room near Kihei.
A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Maui was diverted to the scene.... [Read More]
