SEATTLE — The Coast Guard has suspended the search for a missing man near Paradise Point in Port Orford, Oregon, Monday. Crews searched for the man for nine hours, covering more than 169 miles without locating the man. "Our thoughts go out to the families and loved ones affected by this misfortune," said Chief Warrant Officer Alfredo Rivera, the command center supervisor at Sector North Bend. NEW ORLEANS – A Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued two fishermen from their grounded vessel about two miles south of Cape San Blas, Florida, Monday. Watchstanders with Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a report that the fishing vessel AC III grounded about two miles south of Cape San Blas and began listing to its port side. NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard is searching for a missing fisherman 70 miles south of Dauphin Island, Alabama, Monday. Missing is Carlos Ramirez Regaldo, 33, a fisherman with the fishing vessel Scatterbrain. He was last seen wearing a grey shirt and blue pants without a life jacket. Watchstanders with Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a report from crewmembers of the Scatterbrain that Regaldo fell overboard from the vessel at 7:30 p.m., Sunday.... [Read More]

HONOLULU – The Coast Guard is responding to a distress call from a single engine aircraft running out of fuel approximately 975 miles north of the Big Island Sunday. At 12:30 p.m. the pilot contacted the Hawaii National Guard and reported his aircraft had approximately three hours of fuel remaining and he would be ditching 230 miles north east of Maui. The Coast Guard has launched crews aboard an HC-130 Hercules airplane and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Barbers Point.
