Norwegian systems integration specialist Høglund Marine Solutions has signed contracts with Babcock LGE and Jiangnan Shipyard to supply gas handling and an integrated automation and control system (IACS) for two Pacific Gas-owned very large ethane carrier (VLEC) newbuilds.  These vessels, which are being built at Jiangnan shipyard in China, will be the first VLEC additions to the Pacific Gas fleet and will be transporting ethane between the USA and Europe. A consortium between Bolloré and APM Terminals has signed contracts with the China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) for the construction of Abidjan’s second container terminal, known as Côte d’Ivoire Terminal (CIT). CIT is scheduled to be operational at the end of 2021.The consortium will invest € 400 million in the construction of the terminal and equipment. German container shipping giant Hapag-Lloyd has confirmed new coronavirus cases among its crew. On 26 August, the company informed that two crew members on board the 8,600 TEU containership Sofia Express tested positive for COVID-19 while the vessel was at anchor at the Port of Vancouver, Canada. “Local authorities were duly notified and the mariners were immediately isolated and brought to a quarantine facility ashore. The Philippine Coast Guard will continue to pursue criminal charges against the owners of MV Vienna Wood, a Hong Kong-flagged bulk carrier, which was involved in a deadly collision with a fishing vessel in June southwest of Manila.
