HOUSTON — A Coast Guard rescue helicopter crew medevaced a 34-year-old woman off an offshore supply vessel approximately 112 miles offshore of Galveston today.
Watchstanders at Sector Houston-Galveston received a call at approximately 10 a.m. from a crewmember aboard the 277-foot OSV Norman Flower reporting that a 34-year-old female crewmember was experiencing a rash on her arms and thighs.... [Read More]

NEW ORLEANS - The Coast Guard has suspended the search of a reported missing aircraft in Lake Pontchartrain, Thursday.
Watchstanders at the 8th Coast Guard District received a call from a New Orleans International Airport air traffic control tower reporting a missing Cessna 172 with two people aboard at approximately 8:30 p.m Wednesday.
“The Coast Guard has searched the 161 square-mile area 13 times over the past 20 hours,” said Lt. Cmdr. Mark Molavi. “We would like to extend our sympathies to the families during this difficult time.”... [Read More]

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.— A missing 77-year-old man was found in good health aboard his sailboat, the Mariah, six miles south of Apalachicola, Florida, Thursday.
Nues' sailboat battery died and he had no cell phone reception to contact commercial salvage.
Daughters of Neus contacted Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg watchstanders reporting that Neus' cell phone was ringing again, but he was still unreachable. Watchstanders contacted the cell phone company and were able to determine Neus' position.... [Read More]

CAPE MAY, N.J. — The U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Board of Advisors is holding their semi-annual meeting at Coast Guard Training Center Cape May, Nov. 13, 2014, to review and validate the vision, mission, strategic plan and purpose of recruit training.

MIAMI — The Coast Guard and its partners are responding to a fuel spill in North Miami.
At approximately noon Thursday, a fuel truck, owned and operated by Fuel Tech Miami, spilled approximately 500 gallons of gasoline while refueling a personal recreational vessel in the vicinity of North Bay Village, at 260 North Shoreline Drive in Miami. The majority of the fuel reportedly spilled into the storm drain. There is no report of any fuel in the Inner Coastal Waterway at this time. ... [Read More]
