MIAMI — The U.S. Coast Guard is proposing to make multiple changes to the Government Cut Range Front Light (GCF-E), also known locally as Bent Light in Biscayne Bay, Florida.
U.S. Coast Guard officials are considering a proposal to transfer the aid to navigation (ATON) to Miami-Dade County, as a private ATON and are seeking comments from the public on the proposed action.
The comments gathered will be utilized to supplement the Environmental Assessment previously completed for the ATON replacement project. ... [Read More]

HONOLULU — The search continues Sunday for a missing boater who placed a mayday call Thursday saying his vessel was taking on water and in danger of sinking 46 miles west of Kailua-Kona.
A Navy P-3 Orion airplane is currently searching. A Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew will relieve the Orion at 3 p.m. and continue searching throughout the night.... [Read More]

SAN FRANCISCO — The Coast Guard responded to a disabled vessel approximately 56 miles southwest of Monterey Sunday afternoon.
At 1:19 p.m., Coast Guard Sector San Francisco watchstanders received a report from Coast Guard Station Monterey of a 45-foot sailing vessel disabled and adrift approximately 40 miles offshore.
The vessel became disabled after last night's storm causing lines and sails to become tangled in the propeller.... [Read More]

HONOLULU – The Coast Guard continues its search Saturday for a missing boater who placed a mayday call Thursday saying his vessel was taking on water and in danger of sinking 46 miles west of Kailua-Kona.
Currently searching are an HC-130 airplane crew and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point. A Navy P-3 Orion airplane is scheduled to join the search Sunday. WILMINGTON, N.C. — The Coast Guard medevaced a 47-year-old man from the charter boat Tortuga Saturday approximately 20 miles southeast of Morehead City.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector North Carolina received notification at approximately 3:00 p.m. from the crew of the Tortuga reporting a diver was in medical distress.

Following dewatering efforts, a 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew took the 46-foot fishing vessel Hornet into tow and safely delivered it and the crew to a marina in Ilwaco, Washington. KODIAK, Alaska — The Coast Guard 17th District encourages Alaskan mariners to winterize their vessels and to prevent excess snow from accumulating on moored vessels this winter.
Coast Guard personnel in Valdez and Juneau will be working with local harbormasters to patrol small boat harbors and identify boats in danger of sinking due to snow build up.
Preventative measures will be taken to prevent vessels from sinking but the vessel's owner may be responsible for covering any costs incurred as a result of these services.... [Read More]

WILMINGTON, N.C. — The Coast Guard medevaced an injured 62-year-old man from his sailboat Thursday approximately 100 miles east of Kill Devil Hills.
Watchstanders at the Fifth Coast Guard District command center in Portsmouth, Virginia, received notification at approximately 8:30 p.m. Wednesday from the International Emergency Response Coordination Center, reporting they received a distress message from the sailboat Austina.
