NEW YORK - A Coast Guard crew responded to a person who had fallen in the water near Compton Creek, New Jersey, today.At 2:47 p.m., Coast Guard Aids-to-Navigation Team (ANT) New York rescued an individual who had fallen off his kayak.ANT crewmembers aboard a 26-foot trailerable aids-to-navigation boat from Bayonne, New Jersey, were conducting routine service and inspections to fixed aids-to-navigation, when they witnessed the kayaker enter the water. DUTCH HARBOR, Alaska  — The Captain of the Port, Western Alaska, detained and released two vessels in February and March.The Liberia-flagged container ship Hansa Madgeburg was detained February 20 and the Panama-flagged refrigerated cargo ship Suah was detained March 3 after the Coast Guard Marine Safety Detachment (MSD) Dutch Harbor personnel identified multiple detainable deficiencies. ... SAN PEDRO, Calif. - The Coast Guard, state of California, and response crews are responding to a heavy fuel oil spill at an anchorage inside the Port of Long Beach. Approximately 33 gallons of heavy fuel oil was spilled during bunkering operations Saturday morning.  Boom has been set-up to contain the spill and commercial cleaning crews are on-scene. ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The aircrews of Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City will be taking to the skies more frequently beginning Wednesday and continuing through late April, to conduct annual Rotary Wing Air Intercept pilot training. In-flight training is an important first step in the qualification process for newly assigned pilots to the unit. HONOLULU – The Coast Guard suspended the search Saturday for an overdue 83-foot commercial fishing vessel near the Republic of Marshall Islands. Fishing vessel Clear Water 02 reportedly went missing with nine people aboard while en route Majuro for offload, March 12.
