Unified Command established for oil sheen response on Potomac River

BALTIMORE — A Unified Command was established Thursday in response to oil sheens found on the Potomac River near Arlington, Virginia, Wednesday.

Responding agencies include:

  • U.S. Coast Guard
  • Virginia Department of Environmental Quality
  • Department of Energy and Environment
  • Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research

The Coast Guard is the Federal On-Scene Coordinator overseeing the Unified Command’s response.
