A Coast Guard color guard from Sector Columbia River in Warrenton, Ore., presents the American flag during a flag ceremony commencing the Seaman's Memorial ceremony held at Maritime Memorial Park in Astoria, Aug. 7, 2015.

The Seaman's Memorial is held annually in conjunction with the Astoria Regatta in remembrance of those who had lost their life in the Columbia River or at sea.

Capt. Daniel Travers, commander, Coast Guard Sector Columbia River in Warrenton, Ore., speaks at the annual Seaman's Memorial held at Maritime Memorial Park in Astoria, Aug. 7, 2015.

Consecrated in August 1993, the Maritime Memorial Park is a culmination of six years of hard work by residents in the community who sought to recognize those lost at sea and as a recognition of service in the maritime industry.

The tossing of the flowers wrapped up the annual Seaman's Memorial ceremony held at Maritime Memorial Park in Astoria.
