GULF OF MEXICO — Two 210-foot and two 95-foot vessels conduct skimming operations, May 14, 2016, in response to an estimated 88,200 gallons of crude oil discharged from a segment of flow line at the Glider Field approximately 90 miles south of Timbalier Island, Louisiana. The vessels have removed a combined total of more than 51,000 gallons of oily-water mixture since the discharge on the morning of May 12, 2016. SWANTON, Ohio – The Coast Guard participated in joint training exercises hosted by the Toledo, Ohio, Air National Guard 180th Fighter Wing from May 12 through May 15 at the Toledo Express Airport.
The training brought together more than 30 agencies from 13 states over a five-day period, during which participants loaded C-130 and C-17 aircraft and simulated medical and evacuation procedures.
Saturday's training focused on medical evacuations. Previous sessions involved loading vehicles and other equipment for use during deployments.... [Read More]

YANKEETOWN, Fla.— The Coast Guard rescued two adults and two children aboard an 18-foot boat 10 miles west of Aripeka, Florida, Sunday.
At 11:15 p.m. Saturday watchstanders from Station Yankeetown received a phone call from a woman stating her husband, child and two friends were aboard a flooded boat beginning to capsize.
An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Clearwater, Florida, and a 27-foot Utility Boat-Medium boat crew from Station Yankeetown were launched.... [Read More]

OREGON INLET, N.C. — The Coast Guard and a good Samaritan rescued two men Saturday after their boat capsized near Oregon Inlet.
Watchstanders at the Sector North Carolina Command Center in Wilmington received notification at approximately 12 p.m. stating a 23-foot boat with two men aboard capsized. A good Samaritan took the two men aboard and was awaiting assistance from the Coast Guard.... [Read More]

PORTSMOUTH, Va.--U.S. Coast Guard Sector North Carolina personnel and residents of the Outer Banks commemorated the local deaths of Allied seamen during World War II’s Battle of the Atlantic on Thursday and Friday at Buxton and Ocracoke, North Carolina.

Missing is Samantha Broberg, 33, who was reported missing from the cruise ship.
Watchstanders with the 8th Coast Guard District command center received a call from the master of the Carnival Liberty stating that they had a video of a woman falling overboard around 2 a.m., and that they conducted an accountable search for all passengers.
