UPDATE: Coast Guard responds to allision near New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard is continuing to respond to the allisions between the vessel Nordbay and two facilities in the New Orleans area,Wednesday.

The initial report stated that the tanker Nordbay struck the Jefferson Parish water intake and the Governor Nicholls Street Wharf. Updated information shows the vessel allided with the New Orleans water intake pilings and a derelict wharf near Spain Street and Crescent Park.

During the allisions, the hull of the vessel was reportedly damaged, which resulted in a discharge of ballast water.

There are no reports of pollution. 

The incident is under investigation.
