UPDATE: Coast Guard locates previously overdue boaters

ALAMEDA, Calif. — The Coast Guard located the four boaters previously reported overdue approximately six miles offshore from Lompoc Friday afternoon. 

Coast Guard Station Monterey watchstanders received a report of the overdue boaters by their family Friday morning.   

Crews from Coast Guard Station Morro Bay, Station Monterey and Air Station Sacramento conducted searches offshore from Monterey to Los Angeles.

At approximately 4 p.m., an aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Sacramento spotted the boaters aboard the sailing vessel.

The boaters informed the aircrew of engine problems they were experiencing earlier in the trip, but they will be transiting to Santa Barbara on their own power.

The boaters were reported as having no injuries.
