BALTIMORE — Coast Guard Rear Adm. Stephen Metruck, 5th District commander, was named the honorary colonel of the Fort McHenry Guard Saturday at a ceremony at the Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine.
Metruck was the first Coast Guard officer to be named honorary colonel, and this was the first Tattoo at Fort McHenry held in the Coast Guard’s honor.
“Since 1965, when the first Fort McHenry military tattoo program was performed, there have been over 130 individuals and groups recognized,” said Tina Cappetta Orcutt, superintendent of Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine. “All of whom have contributed their time and energies to public service and enhancing the communities in which we live.”
