CLEVELAND — Several U.S. Coast Guard units in the eastern Great Lakes are scheduled to host free public open houses in support of National Safe Boating Week, which runs from May 21 to May 28.
National Safe Boating Week marks the launch of the 2016 North American Safe Boating Campaign.
Stations will be participating in various events throughout the week to promote safe boating practices and engage with the public, including free vessel safety checks conducted by the Coast Guard Auxiliary, as well as events in conjunction with local partner agencies.
The crew of Station Oswego, New York, is scheduled to conduct search-and-rescue training demonstrations during Oswego's Waterfront Open House Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary will also be manning a booth at the Waterfront Open House and providing free vessel safety checks at the Coast Guard outer parking lot on Lake Street.
Additionally, open houses are scheduled at the following Coast Guard units:
Saturday, May 21 Station Niagara 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. Station Fairport 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Thursday, May 26 Station Erie 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
