MIAMI — The Coast Guard is responding to a report of a 212-foot cargo ship with 12 crew members aboard reportedly sinking 51 nautical miles northwest of Haiti, Thursday night.
Coast Guard 7th District Command Center watchstanders received a relay message from Her Majesty's Coast Guard after they received an Inmarsat satellite message stating the Bolivian-flagged cargo ship Minouche, listing 30 degrees to port and all 12 crewmembers aboard were making preperations to abandon ship.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Forward Operating Location Cordova rescued a fisherman on the north side of Montague Island approximately 50 miles southwest of Cordova, Alaska, Wednesday.The Jayhawk crew hoisted the fisherman from the island and safely transported him to Cordova.Coast Guard Sector Anchorage watchstanders received a request for assistance from the fisherman reporting that his 30-foot fishing vessel was disabled and aground.... WARRENTON, Ore. – Coast Guard crews rescued a man and are searching for a second potential person in the water after a vessel capsized north of North Jetty off Tillamook Bay, Thursday.
A 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew from Coast Guard Station Tillamook Bay pulled the man, who was reportedly unconscious, from the water and transferred him to emergency medical personnel waiting at the station, while an MH-60 Jayhawk aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Astoria and an additional boatcrew from Station Tillamook continue to search.... NEW YORK — A Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod Jayhawk helicopter crew rescues a man approximately 12-miles south of Shinnecock Inlet, N.Y., Oct. 1, 2015. Despite winds gusting to 25-knots and seas reaching nine-feet, the Jayhawk helicopter crew safely hoisted the man aboard and transported him to Air Station Cape Cod where emergency medical services awaited his arrival. MIAMI — The Coast Guard advises swimmers, beachgoers and mariners to exercise extreme caution while at beaches off the coasts of Florida, Georgia and South Carolina due to the increased possibility of rip currents caused by Hurricane Joaquin.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Coast Guard pollution responders determined Wednesday that the Lady St. Johns, a retired passenger boat, is no longer discharging oil into the St. Johns River.
Currently, Moran Environmental Recovery is working with divers from Logan Diving & Salvage to remove the remainder of the fuel from the vessel and is working to clean up the oil from the impacted area.
Salvage of the vessel will be conducted by the owner in a coordinated plan with the city of Jacksonville.... [Read More]
