The Japanese Coast Guard has decided to suspend the extensive search for the crew of livestock carrier Gulf Livestock 1, which is believed to have sunk in the East China Sea last week. “Japanese Coast Guard has decided to transition from full-time search operations for the crew of the missing vessel Gulf Livestock 1 to its usual patrol arrangements as they have found no trace of the ship since 05 September 2020,” the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) informed.... Unionized workers have voted to undertake protected industrial action at Patrick, Hutchinson, and DP World terminals at Brisbane, Freemantle, Sydney, and Melbourne in Australia after negotiations on a new enterprise agreement broke down with the employers. The decision followed the approval from the Fair Work Commission to unions to hold the ballot. Port of Hamburg, Germany, has just announced that the fairway adjustment of the Elbe River is on its home stretch. In the final stage this week, the cutter-head suction dredger (CSD) Fernão de Magalhães – owned by Jan De Nul – will do the remaining work on the Elbe river bed. According to the port, this is the first time that a dredger of this type is operating in Hamburg. Port officials expect this cutter dredger will stay in the area until the end of September.... MAN Energy Solutions has through its Chinese license, CMP, won a series of orders for small-bore, four-stroke engines compliant with the new emission protocols of the Chinese government related to the inland-and-coastal segment. The orders are for MAN 21/31, 27/38 and 23/30H types, which stem in great part from the China GB15097 regulation – commonly known as C1 and C2. The Post-Panamax containership MOL Charisma, which experienced fire in one of its cargo holds while sailing off Sri Lanka last week, will return to Singapore to undergo neccessary inspections. “We have been informed that the vessel MOL Charisma (voyage 211W), deployed in our Pacific South 3 (PS3) service, will proceed to Singapore as the ship owner was unable to arrange a Salvor Surveyor and Fire Experts in either Colombo, Sri Lanka, or at Indian ports,” German shipping company Hapag-Lloyd said in an update.... Tianjin Southwest Maritime has placed an order for the construction of two 98,000 cbm ethane carriers at Chinese Jiangnan Shipyard. The Sri Lanka Navy has managed to extinguish the reignited fire on board MT New Diamond, and the tanker is now being towed further away towards safe waters by a tug, the navy said in an update.  The distressed oil tanker is currently about 37 nautical miles off Sangamankanda Point.
