WARRENTON, Ore. — The Coast Guard conducted a medevac of an injured teen from a cliff near Cape Kiwanda, in Tillamook County, Friday evening.The 16-year-old male self rescued himself onto the rocks and received assistance from a high-angle rescue team from the Tillamook County Sheriff's Office and fire department before being hoisted by a Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk aircrew from Sector Columbia River.Sector Columbia River Command Center received a call from the Tillamook County Dispatch at about 6 p.m., requesting assistance to remove the injured teen from the cliff. The aircrew launched at 6:27 p.m., arrived on scene at 7:20 p.m. and conducted the hoist. The aircrew transferred the teen to Pacific County Airport where he was delivered to awaiting Tillamook County emergency medical services, who transported him to North Lincoln Hospital."The ability to seamlessly work alongside our fellow responders is a credit to our ongoing partnership within our common search and rescue mission," said Petty Officer 2nd Class Sean Ward, operations specialist, Coast Guard Sector Columbia River. "We remind all local residents or tourists to practice safe recreational activities and be aware of the dangers that come along with the scenic areas along the Oregon coastline."
