UPDATE: Coast Guard, local partners respond to capsized sailboat with 30 people aboard near San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO — The Coast Guard and partner agencies monitored the salvage operations of the Khaleesi Thursday after the boat capsized in San Francisco near Pier 45 with 30 people aboard Saturday.The owners hired Parker Diving and Salvage to conduct salvage operations on the vessel. Following a raising, dewatering and fuel removal operation Thursday, the Khaleesi was towed to Pier 39 by its owners. The salvage company removed approximately 20 gallons of gasoline from the vessel's fuel tanks. Coast Guard members were on scene to monitor and ensure operations were conducted safely.During Saturday's response, Coast Guard crews rescued 20 people from the water, a San Francisco Police Department boatcrew rescued eight people and good Samaritans were able to rescue two people.The day of the incident, all people aboard the Khaleesi were reported accounted for at Pier 45, which consisted of 27 adults and three children.All individuals who had been taken to the hospital have been released.An investigation into the incident is ongoing. The San Francisco Police Department Marine Unit has taken a lead role in conducting the accident investigation.
