NJ Resolution Declares Annual Coast Guard Week

March 26, 2015

TRENTON, N.J. – Members of Coast Guard Training Center Cape May, attended a proclamation reading, Thursday, at the New Jersey State House announcing that the first week of August, each year, will be designated as “Coast Guard Week.”

Capt. Todd Prestidge, commanding officer of the training center, accepted the proclamation from Assemblyman Bob Andrzejczak, and provided brief comments to the members of the General Assembly.

“We are honored to be here today and appreciate the efforts of Assemblyman Bob Andrzejczak and Senator Jeff Van Drew,” said Prestidge.

Andrzejczak and Van Drew drafted the resolution.

The resolution honors the significant contributions of the Coast Guard Training Center as the sole accession point for the service’s enlisted workforce and to its positive impact in the State of New Jersey.

“I am also pleased to announce that Cape May County has been declared an official Coast Guard Community,” said Prestidge during the presentation. “This makes Cape May County one of only 17 in the nation, and we look forward to seeing you all in May to help us celebrate that accomplishment.”

An official ceremony and festival have been planned May 8 -10 to celebrate Cape May County’s designation as a Coast Guard Community.
