SAN DIEGO — The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 44-year-old man from a commercial fishing boat nearly 6 miles south of San Clemente Island, Thursday.
At approximately 8:45 a.m., Thursday, the crew of the 65-foot vessel Commander requested assistance from Coast Guard Sector San Diego for a passenger who was experiencing severe upper abdominal pain.
A Sector San Diego MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew immediately launched, arrived on scene and safely hoisted the man from the Commander.
At approximately 12 p.m., he was transferred to awaiting EMS at Sector and transported to UC San Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest for further treatment.
His condition is unknown.
