ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A 40-year-old man was rescued by the Coast Guard during a diving accident 90 miles west of Hernando Beach, Florida, Saturday.
The operator of the vessel, Cave Diver, contacted Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg watchstanders over VHF-FM channel 16 radio reporting the man resurfaced from his first dive and likely had the bends.
A MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, Florida, arrived on scene, hoisted the man and transported him to Florida South Hospital in Orlando, Florida, in stable condition.
