CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coast Guard joined the Corpus Christi Police and Fire Departments in searching for a 13-year-old boy Sunday, after he was reported missing in the water near beach marker 185 on Mustang Island State Park.
The police dispatch notified Coast Guard Sector Corpus Christi watchstanders at about 6:15 p.m., that the boy had gone under and was not seen resurfacing. The watchstanders launched a Station Port Aransas response boat crew and an Air Station Corpus Christi MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew to search. Police were searching along the shoreline and the Fire Department was searching with a boat.
A response boat crew will continue searching throughout the night and another helicopter crew is scheduled to begin searching again at first light.
