October 20, 2016

OREGON INLET, N.C.. — The Coast Guard medevaced a 22-year-old man Thursday off a 32-foot fishing vessel three miles east of Oregon Inlet.

Sector North Carolina watchstanders notified Station Oregon Inlet watchstanders at approximately 2 p.m. that a man needed a medevac off the fishing vessel Salvation after he reported he was suffering lower back pains and was vomiting.

Station Oregon Inlet launched a 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew and arrived on scene at approximately 2:11 p.m. The boat crew transferred the man and arrived at Station Oregon Inlet at approximately 2:27 p.m. where local EMS was waiting.

"We were glad the fishing vessel was in such close proximity to our station,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Travis Green, officer on duty for the case. "It aided the case, as did the quick arrival of our local partner EMS personnel."
