Coast Guard medevacs man from boat 44 miles northeast of Oregon Inlet, NC

OREGON INLET, N.C. — The U.S. Coast Guard medevaced a man from a charter boat 44 miles north-northeast of Oregon Inlet, Sunday.Station Oregon Inlet watchstanders received a request at approximately 11:30 a.m. to medevac a passenger from the charter boat Tuna Fever after he was reportedly suffering memory loss.A 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew launched from Station Oregon Inlet carrying local emergency medical services (EMS) personnel and arrived on-scene at approximately 1 p.m.The boat crew transferred EMS personnel over to the Tuna Fever and escorted the vessel back to Station Oregon Inlet.EMS personnel took the passenger to Outer Banks Hospital in Nags Head for evaluation at 1:40 p.m."Thanks to our crew’s training and the quick notification of the crew aboard the vessel, we were able to respond to the situation quickly and get the passenger proper medical attention," said Petty Officer 2nd Class Travis Green, coxswain for the case.
