NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Coast Guard Barque Eagle will leave Baltimore April 29 bound for New London to commence the 2015 cadet summer training program. Eagle and her crew have been at the Coast Guard Yard facility in Baltimore as part of a Service Life Extension Project that will keep the ship away from its homeport of New London, Conn., for several years.
Specific port call dates this summer are:

June 5-8: Norfolk, Va.
June 13-16: Staten Island, N.Y.
June 25-29: Philadelphia, Pa.
July 4-7: Hamilton, Bermuda
July 18-21: Portland, Maine
July 23-27: Boston, Mass.
July 31- August 3: Newport, R.I.
August 7-10: New York, N.Y.
August 14-17: New London, Conn.
August 21-23: Portsmouth, Va.
August 28-31: Baltimore, Md.
Eagle, also known as “America’s Tall Ship” is the largest tall ship flying the Stars and Stripes and the only square-rigger in U.S. government service. The ship was built in 1936 in Germany, and commissioned as Horst Wessel, one of three sail training ships operated by the pre-World War II German navy. At the close of World War II, Horst Wessel was taken as a war reparation by the United States, recommissioned as the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Eagle and sailed to New London, Conn.
