Coast Guard Auxiliary and partner agencies to instruct About Boating Safely program at TERRA Environmental Research Institute

KENDALL, Fla. – Local Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 61, Homestead, alongside partner agencies, will instruct an About Boating Safely (ABS) program to over 250 students and parents at TERRA Environmental Research Institute.

WHO: Coast Guard Auxiliary, Coast Guard Air Station Miami, Coast Guard Maritime Safety and Security Team (MSST) Miami, Coast Guard Station Miami Beach, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.WHAT: The Coast Guard Auxiliary, alongside officers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), will instruct the ABS program to students and parents who pre-registered for the program at TERRA to become better educated on basic boating fundamentals and recreational boating safety. Students, parents and invited guests will also have the opportunity to participate in a marine mart which will showcase an air asset from Coast Guard Air Station Miami and vessels from Coast Guard MSST Miami, FWC, and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

WHEN: Saturday, October 15, 2016. The program begins at 8 a.m. Marine mart showcase will be setup by 11 a.m.

WHERE: TERRA Environmental Research Institute, 11005 S.W. 84th Street, Miami, FL 33173.There will be parking available for media members. Media members will be escorted by a representative from the school, or a Coast Guard Auxiliary member, into TERRA and taken to the event location. Interviews with Coast Guard Auxiliary members, partner agency representatives and TERRA students and staff will be available. Media interested in attending are urged contact 786-351- 3386 by 10 a.m. Saturday.
